WINTER EVENTS
2015-2016

The Inns of the Gettysburg Area, an association of fourteen premiere bed and breakfasts, is sponsoring two winter events:  Lincoln at Gettysburg on February 20, 2016 and Irish at Gettysburg on March 19, 2016.  Both events are designed to compliment a weekend stay at one of the member B&B's which can be viewed at www.gettysburgbedandbreakfast.com but a limited number of tickets are available for the general public as well.

LINCOLN AT GETTYSBURG 

Join us for a Luncheon at the Dobbin House Restaurant on Steinwehr Ave. in Gettysburg on February 20 with President Lincoln himself in attendance. Licensed Town Guide John McTague will present a power point lecture detailing the President's visit to Gettysburg in November of 1863 when he delivered the Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the National Cemetery.  Lunch begins at 11:30 AM and the cost is $40 for adults; $30 for children under age 12.  President Lincoln, portrayed by James Hayney, will meet and greet the guests and will move from table to table during the luncheon to speak with the guests.  He will also deliver a few remarks following the luncheon.  Guests of any of the participating inns may sign up for the luncheon by contacting their innkeeper and the event will be included with the room charges for the weekend.  Outside tickets are available by phoning 717-337-9508.

From 5-7 PM on February 20 from 5-7 PM the Inns of the Gettysburg Area will sponsor a Cocktail Hour with Major General John Hartranft at the Battlefield Bed and Breakfast , 2264 Emmitsburg Rd., Gettysburg,PA.  This is a BYOB event but mixers, snacks and light hors d oerves will be served to the guests.  Majory General Hartranft is portrayed by Mark Grim of McKnightstown.  Mark is a 25 year veteran of the Marine Corp and an attorney who is currently a member of the Confederation of Union Generals and portrays Gen. Hartranft frequently throughout the year.  His lecture on February 20 will center around the imprisonment and ultimate execution of the "Lincoln Conspirators"  while he served as Provost Marshall of the Old Military Prison in Washington DC.  Tickets for the event, priced for $13 per person,  are available from any Inns of Gettysburg innkeeper or by phoning 717-337-9508.

IRISH AT GETTYSBURG

The Inns of the Gettysburg Inns will sponsor an Irish event on March 19, 2016 which will include a Battlefield Walk and a dinner lecture at the Dobbin House Restaurant in the evening.  Guests are invited to meet General Hancock at Auto Tour Stop #9 at 1 PM for a brief walk in the Wheatfield where the General, portrayed by Randy Feranec who is a member of Confederation of Union Generals, will describe the actions of the Irish troops during that critical period of the battle.  At 6:30 PM we meet at the Dobbin House for dinner with General and Mrs. Hancock followed by a presentation by Licensed Guide Rich Kohr who will give a detailed description of the Irish during the battle.  The cost for the event is $50 per person and reservations can be made through participating Innkeepers with limited tickets available for the general public.  Those tickets can be reserved by phoning 717-337-9508.
