FREE HISTORIC DOBBIN HOUSE TOURS
Enjoy a FREE, guided, hour-plus tour of the oldest, most historic house in Gettysburg, the Dobbin House. This popular and highly-rated presentation highlights the house built in 1776 by the Rev. Alexander Dobbin. His stone home spans three centuries of American history, from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War and beyond. View all the decorated rooms while interacting with period antiques to understand how the home's occupants lived during the 18th and 19th centuries.
2021 Tour Dates:
Sadly, we have had to suspend our famous and popular Dobbin House Tours until, hopefully, this summer. The Dobbin House rooms are very small and it is not possible to conduct social distancing within the 244 year-old walls. Adversity is not new to the Dobbin House. During the 1700's, the Dobbin family endured 9 years of hardship during the American Revolutionary War. In the 1800's, the Zeigler family suffered a devastated farm during the Civil War Battle of Gettyburg. And in the 1900's, right after John Lippy purchased and turned the Dobbin House into a museum, he survived 4 years of a downturned economy during WWII. We look forward to telling you the stories of these respected souls when you take our Dobbin House tour. And now, we will add a new chapter to add to the life story of this remarkable structure as we, like those before us, survive during a crisis. We are the Dobbin House, home of the Brave.
